Getting to know Lynn Pendergrass

Are you searching for someone to listen to you? For many years, I have heard over and over, “Thank you, I have just been wanting someone to listen to me.” I have always felt led to sit and listen when a client goes from answering assessment questions to opening up and spilling their heart. Assessment is essential to begin building a relationship between a client and counselor. However, I believe listening is just as important. I have been a licensed social worker for over 29 years, working with clients in healthcare settings and case management. I have now been a licensed professional counselor for the last five years. My love for helping people learn how to help themselves and believe they can retrain their brain to achieve what they want inspired me to pursue my own career goal of returning to school and becoming a licensed counselor. I earned my Master's in Counseling from Amberton University. Over the years, I have gained experience helping clients work through stress, anxiety, depression, family dynamics, job loss, marital problems, physical limitations and disabilities, as well as long-term life-altering situations. These experiences have led me to work with adults of all ages due to the circumstances affecting relationships with family and friends. I am a wife, a mother of two young adult children, a mother-in-law, a sister, and a daughter myself. I understand and know how family dynamics affect an individual's physical and emotional health in all aspects of their daily lives.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Our first session is important for you to present your area of struggle that you seeking help and guidance with. It is also a time for assessment and gathering information so that I can understand where you are coming from and what you are feeling. And as important, it is a time for you to get to know me and get comfortable with sharing your thoughts and building a relationship of trust. Continued sessions will build on the relationship of trust and hopefully build your confidence to move forward and work through the situations that have you "frozen" or "stuck" from having the most positive quality of life that you deserve.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
