Lynn Phillips, LMFT

Psychotherapist
WA
Welcome, I have 35+ years as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist. I am an empathetic listener and collaborative counselor. I have worked in a variety of settings: military bases, schools, private practice, hospitals, early childhood education, and homes. I use an eclectic approach with clients to determine the best modality to support meeting their goals. I am upfront, honest, and straightforward, but also like to laugh with my clients. My approach I believe every person has the ability to make the changes they want for their life. So, I will walk with that client to provide the guidance, challenges, and interventions to make that happen. I want to know where my clients' priorities are and form a working partnership. My focus I have spent many years working with our military families. The unique challenges to military children are the reason I became an MFLC. Along with that, I approach, I believe in Trauma-Informed care to support these families through all they give. Perinatal preventative care, bonding, and maternal mental health are areas I am passionate about. I want every child and their family to have a healthy and positive beginning. This is tough work, but the rewards are lifelong. Parenting skills are something we don't always learn while growing up. Communication, consistency, and balance are so necessary to a healthy family. These are skills we all can use and should especially use within our homes. I enjoy modeling and offering skills to strengthen families and lessen conflicts in the home. My communication style The sign in my office says, "Nature is my therapy". I believe in letting the conversation grow organically with directive questions. I do not force answers, but I will ask pointed questions that may open a better dialogue. I feel therapy should be safe and inviting, creating an environment of acceptance.
