Getting to know Lynn Whalen

Hi there, I'm Lynn Whalen, MSW, LICSW. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the College of St. Scholastica. My primary focus in practice is guiding clients through the healing process and resolving issues related to traumas and adverse life events to address the mental health challenges they face. My goal is to help clients understand the “Why” behind their experiences. This is accomplished through a combination of education, discussion, reflection, and intervention. I am an EMDR-trained provider, having received my training through EMDR Humanitarian Assistance Programs (EMDR HAP). I work with clients aged 18 and older. I specialize in supporting those who suffer from PTSD and other trauma- and stressor-related disorders, as well as individuals experiencing symptoms related to mood, anxiety, and personality disorders. I am an open, honest, and compassionate provider who meets each client where they are. Together, we collaborate to set goals that ensure clients achieve what they want in therapy. Our first session will focus on setting the stage for therapy, beginning to build a therapeutic relationship, and learning about each other. I will gather information about why you are seeking therapy, your physical health (current and history), medications, family and social histories, mental health symptoms (current and history), and your current living environment.
