Lynne Klaus, LCSW

Lynne Klaus, LCSW

Psychotherapist
UT
My name is Lynne Klaus, and I am a therapist licensed to practice in Colorado, Utah, and South Carolina. My approach to therapy is client-centered, strengths-based, and solution-focused. I pride myself on my ability to empathize, listen, and relate in an open-minded manner. I utilize an eclectic approach to therapy, commonly incorporating Mindfulness, Acceptance and Commitment Therapy, and Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy. I specialize in treating anxiety, mood disorders, and substance use problems. I also support clients navigating significant life changes, such as recovering after loss or divorce. Clients often describe my communication style as warm, open, and non-judgmental. While my approach is gentle, I am also comfortable having those "tough" conversations when needed. Being a therapist is my second career. Born and raised in Colorado, I spent the first 12 years of my professional life working as a paralegal and federal prison volunteer in the Northern California Bay Area. Following the untimely death of my mother in 1985, I shifted my focus from law to helping others. I returned to school and earned my Master’s Degree in Social Work from the University of Denver in 2000. I work with clients to set workable goals tailored to their unique situations. Together, we review these goals regularly and make adjustments as needed. In our first session, I like to spend time getting to know you—your background, current life circumstances, and past experiences in therapy (what helped and what didn’t). You will have plenty of time to share your story and explain why you are seeking support now. I will likely have many questions for you, too!
