Lynne Klaus, LCSW, LISW - CP

Psychotherapist
SC
Being a therapist is my second career. Born and raised in Colorado, I spent the first 12 years of my professional life working as a paralegal and federal prison volunteer in the Northern California Bay Area. Following the untimely death of my mother in 1985, I decided to shift my focus from law to helping others. I returned to school and obtained my Master's Degree in Social Work from the University of Denver in 2000. After moving from the Bay Area, I returned to Colorado for many years, followed by living in Utah for a year to be near my brother. In 2018, I settled in South Carolina with my husband. I am fortunate to have lived in so many beautiful places in the United States and am grateful to now live near the ocean that I love so much. When not working, you will find me enjoying time with my husband and our dogs, extended family, and friends. I re-energize by practicing yoga, reading, and working creatively with my hands. EXPERIENCE While in Denver, I spent four years working at Presbyterian St. Luke's Hospital in both inpatient and outpatient psychiatry as well as detox. I then spent 12 years providing team-based assessment, referral, and monitoring services for physicians in Colorado. Six of those years were spent in a directorship position where I supervised a team of mental health clinicians. In Utah, I worked in a research cancer hospital setting with a neurosurgery team counseling patients with terminal illness as well as their families. After moving to South Carolina, I worked in forensics by performing interviews and counseling for abused children, adolescents, and their parents. Just prior to moving into private practice, I spent three years working in a medical clinic providing counseling to adult patients.
