Getting to know Mackenzie Earp

Mackenzie Earp, LMSW, is a clinical social worker with Jeanes Mental Health Services (JMHS). For Mackenzie, therapy is a partnership. She believes some of the most meaningful work happens when clients feel comfortable enough to be honest about where they are, while also feeling encouraged to think about where they want to go. Mackenzie works with clients of all ages and especially enjoys working with adolescents and young adults. She has a particular interest in anxiety, trauma, identity development, and the challenges that can come with major periods of change. Mackenzie knows that sometimes you need a place to talk through what is happening without feeling judged or rushed. Other times, you need someone who will help you recognize a pattern, look at something differently, or ask the question you may have been avoiding. She believes good therapy has room for both. Drawing from CBT and DBT, Mackenzie helps clients understand how their thoughts, emotions, and behaviors influence one another and how small changes can begin to shift patterns that have become difficult to break. She focuses on helping clients develop skills they can actually use outside of the therapy room. Mackenzie wants her clients to feel supported throughout therapy, but she also wants them to reach a point where they no longer need that support. Her hope is that clients finish therapy with a better understanding of themselves, greater confidence in their own abilities, and tools they can continue using well beyond their last session. “You can't go back and change the beginning, but you can start where you are and change the ending." — C.S. Lewis

What should a new client know about working with you?

My therapy is grounded in three principles that I hold as truths. 1. A good therapist is aware that they do not have the answers but the tools to help the client find the answers. 2. Life is full of lessons that constantly repeat themselves. These lessons are designed to teach us the tools needed to be the best versions of ourselves. 3. Everything we experience is designed for our good. It is our job to find the good in challenges and grow into the best possible version of ourselves.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

At our first meeting, I want to truly understand what brought you here. I often rely on Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) because of its transformative power. Together, we'll uncover how your thoughts shape your emotions. I'm here to support and guide you, helping you challenge those thoughts. Let's work side by side, paving your path to greater emotional peace and clarity.

10/10!
She is very kind and takes her work seriously. I didn’t think therapy would make much of a difference at this stage of my life, but I was proven wrong. I am very grateful.

She has a way of getting to the heart of the matter and empowering people. She’s very present and steady with a calm manner and compassionate! I felt nurtured and healed by her, and have also learned a lot. Highly recommend!!
She helped me work through things I didn't even know how to put into words. If you're on the fence about starting therapy, let this be your sign!
She helped me through a really difficult time in my life. She doesn’t solve your problems… she presents them to you in a way for you to solve them and helps you create your own tools to do so. She’s an incredibly valuable asset to this practice and to me!
She was great. I feel very comfortable opening up to her. She has been helping me get to the root of my issues instead of just the surface level.
