Macy Grim, LMHC

Macy Grim, LMHC

Psychotherapist
2348 3rd St S, Jacksonville Beach, FL
I am both a licensed therapist and professor at Pepperdine University specializing in working with teens and families. I help teens and adolescents communicate their feelings from a young age and work with parents to facilitate healthy, loving relationships. As a new mom myself, I have a strong passion for assisting new mothers through the transitional process of starting a family while maintaining a sense of autonomy and connection with themselves. I hold a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Georgia State University, which has equipped me with the skills to support individuals and families effectively. I take a holistic and nonjudgmental approach to counseling, grounded in Humanistic and Child-Centered theory. This means I strongly believe in meeting each person where they are and collaborating with families to develop a strong foundation of communication and understanding. Currently, I work virtually with teens, new moms, and parents to provide as much support as possible. There has been a significant increase in families needing services over the past few years. My team and I work diligently to offer everything possible to make this transition back to normal life happier for children and parents alike. Together, we strive to mitigate the impact of an isolating few years and foster resilience and connection.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Our first session will ensure this is a good fit for you and/or your family. We will discuss therapy goals and start to get to know each other. From there, my style is very person-centered. I will never come into session with my own agenda, as I believe our lives change drastically day to day. You are able to decide what you want to discuss and process within that session. I can then help 'connect dots' or create awareness surrounding behaviors that help build more self-efficacy. I provide tools and psychoeducation when necessary to build your repertoire of emotional intelligence.
