“Madeline is kind, engaged and open to structuring your therapy sessions based off of what you need most. I was incredibly nervous my first session because I hadn’t been to therapy in 10 years! She quickly put me at ease and made me feel comfortable to share everything going on in my life that brought me to therapy. She was also down to earth and funny! I was given thoughtful advice that resonated with my goals and values. She also offered helpful tools to review after my session to better support my healing. Madeline was more than a great listener; she is like a friend. I’m excited to continue seeing her and working on my mental health with newfound confidence. ”

Getting to know Madeleine Carlson-Widolff

To me, therapy is about meeting you where you are. We can sit in the suck for a while together, but from there we will build up. This is a collaborative relationship, and we are colleagues working toward the same goal. I won't try to impress you with fancy medical jargon or bore you with a lecture. I am a simple person with humble beginnings. I started my career in healthcare at 17 years old as a CNA (Certified Nursing Assistant) working nights at a tiny rural hospital. I moved to the Chicago suburbs to continue my education but maintained my CNA certificate by working afternoons and nights at a long-term care facility. I graduated with my Master's in Social Work in 2016 from Aurora University. During my initial years as a social worker, I worked in mental health case management and hospice. Two years later, I received my Licensed Clinical Social Worker credential for the state of Illinois. Not even a month later, in 2019, I moved to North Texas, where it took me several more years of training before I received my clinical licensure for Texas. During that time, I took several different positions to gain a better understanding of all the kinds of work a social worker is capable of. Those positions included intensive outpatient for mental health and addictions, as well as intake and utilization review for a psychiatric hospital. After gaining clinical licensure in Texas, I continued to provide home health social work, telehealth therapy, and in-person in-home counseling. I primarily focus on adults 18+ as they navigate difficult life changes. I use cognitive behavioral therapy and often give handouts or homework to encourage therapeutic thought outside of our sessions. I look forward to meeting you and being part of the healing chapter of your story.

Very casual and a good listener but not sure the feedback or resources that were given were very helpful. She acknowledged what I was going though but didn’t provide me with resources or tools to use to help me in the process of resolving the emotions.

Madeleine was a great listener, was very understanding and gave me great advice. But what I liked most about my visit I felt good about myself after our conversation.
