“Madeline has been incredible to work with in all capacities. As someone who had delayed seeking help for a long time, I couldn't have asked for a better pairing to work with. She's been incredibly professional/ resourceful within her practice, will also maintaining a level of comfort that can be very hard to find in the medical/ mental health community. While I remain far from a finished product (as we all are!)- I look forward to our sessions as a staple of my week, and am beyond grateful to work with someone whom I both trust & respect. ”

Getting to know Madeline Grove

Madeline Grove has a unique passion for helping people improve their mental health in creative ways. She has experience in a variety of settings, including inpatient, forensic psychology, and community mental health. This diverse background gives her a holistic, compassionate perspective on whatever clients bring into the therapy room. Madeline provides an open, authentic space for clients to find peace and a deeper sense of self while navigating the ups and downs of daily life. She holds a Bachelor's degree, a Master's in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, and an EdS in Clinical Mental Health Counseling, all from James Madison University. This provider is a Resident in Counseling.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I specialize in working with women and adults struggling with anxiety, relationship challenges, and trauma. Clients come to me looking for a warm, creative therapist who sees them as human, not just a diagnosis or symptom to be labeled. Therapy is where we cultivate emotional safety and both show up as people, striving to be our best selves. Wherever you are, I will meet you there. Imagine a life where moments of peace and clarity are possible. You don’t have to keep struggling, and you certainly don’t have to do it alone.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I offer 60-minute talk therapy sessions. A "typical session" can vary depending on what you bring into therapy each week and your goals. Some sessions will be more structured where I teach you evidence-based tools, while others are more free-flowing where we are processing emotions or talking through a difficult situation. I also love nerding out about psychology and teaching you the "why" behind your mental health. Therapy is not one size fits all, I welcome feedback so we can do more of what's working and less of what's not. Like any other relationship, therapy requires time and cultivation. I recommend committing to 6-8 sessions before seeing measurable change.

Madeline has been a wonderful therapist for me in the past couple of years. I can’t recommend her enough!

    • Madeline Grove is friendly, welcoming and knowledgeable; her office felt inviting and comfortable • I was apprehensive at first about therapy, but quickly found myself looking forward to appointments. My visits left me with hope and exercises to do at home (journaling, meditating, videos to watch, etc). • I felt safe; she is easy to talk to and comfortable with silences if you need a moment to think (I didn’t feel like I was being rushed) • The portal is easy to use to set up appointments, view bills, print out statements, etc • I would definitely recommend Madeline Grove to others
I absolutely love Madeline and I look forward to my visits with her every week. If I hadn’t started sessions with her, I have no idea where I would be. I see a huge change in myself thanks to Madeline but also the work I’ve put in myself. Her bedside manner is fantastic, she’s very funny, super sweet, and I honestly look up to her like she’s my older sister. Her office is very welcoming, and she’s always happy to see me. I would recommend Madeline to anybody.
I’ve been a client of Madeline’s for over two years and she’s amazing. As a queer person myself, she has been instrumental in my coming to terms with my identity and my journey and has supported me throughout my transition. She responds quickly to correspondence, is thorough in communication with my other providers, and is genuinely one of the kindest people. In addition, her training in OCD helped me significantly to work through the root of and resolutions for my compulsions. I highly recommend Madeline!
I've had so many therapists & counselors over the last 20 years, & Madeline is the best I've ever seen. She is kind, she listens, & doesn't assign "homework", only suggestions of resources she thinks would be helpful to me, which I really appreciate. 1000/10 would recommend. I would give her more than 5 stars if I could.
