Getting to know Madeline McDonnell

I support clients in finding clarity, understanding themselves more deeply, and taking steps toward creating the kind of life they want to experience. Many of my clients feel lost or overwhelmed and want something to change but may not know where to start. Together, we explore how unprocessed emotions and past experiences affect their wellbeing, often showing up as anxious thoughts, unhelpful relationship patterns, or negative self-talk. My goal is to help clients build tools to become more self-aware, cope with challenges, and feel more satisfied in their personal relationships. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Northwestern University, which informs my compassionate and evidence-based approach to therapy.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I specialize in working with clients who are navigating anxiety, relationship issues, low self-esteem, life transitions, family challenges, perfectionism, career issues, and trauma. I strive to establish a safe and supportive environment that encourages self-reflection and personal growth. I use integrative, evidence-based approaches based on client needs and offer highly effective coping strategies that are tailored to address triggers and challenges you may face in life. I have also completed my EMDR training and am now practicing as an EMDR informed clinician.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

My aim is to enable you to improve your overall daily functioning, foster a stronger sense of well-being, and to help you feel completely authentic and connected with your sense of self-worth. Engaging in therapeutic work requires courage and openness, and I consider it a privilege to be a part of your journey.
