Hi, I'm Madison Dulion, a Licensed Associate Professional Counselor based in Pennsylvania, offering telehealth therapy to adults and adolescents across the state. I work with people who are tired of feeling stuck, whether that's living with anxiety that never quite turns off, carrying depression that's hard to put into words, navigating a difficult relationship, or trying to make sense of past experiences that still show up in the present. I've spent close to six years working in clinical settings that have shaped how I show up in the therapy room. I've worked in community mental health, intensive outpatient programs, and inpatient treatment, and I currently serve as a clinical supervisor for an inpatient family healing program in addition to my private practice work. That range matters because I've sat with people across every stage of what they're going through, from the moments when everything feels unmanageable to the slower, quieter work of building a life that feels like your own again. A meaningful part of my background is in supporting people through substance use, recovery, and the mental health concerns that so often go hand in hand with them. I work without judgment with clients in any stage of change, whether you're in active recovery, questioning your relationship with alcohol or substances, or focused on what's underneath those patterns in the first place. I see clients across Pennsylvania via telehealth through Darin King Counseling, where I practice under the clinical supervision of Darin King, LPC. Telehealth makes consistent therapy possible whether you're in Pittsburgh, the surrounding suburbs, or anywhere else in PA, and it removes a lot of the logistical barriers that can keep people from showing up to the work week after week. If any of this sounds like the kind of support you're looking for, I'd be glad to meet you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My style is warm, honest, and collaborative. I'm not the kind of therapist who sits silently and nods, and I'm also not the kind who hands you a worksheet and calls it a session. I tend to land somewhere in the middle, which means I'll actually engage with you, ask real questions, gently push when something seems worth pushing on, and meet you with humor and humanity when that's what the moment calls for. I draw from Dialectical Behavior Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, and motivational interviewing, all within a trauma-informed framework. In plain language, that means our sessions tend to balance practical skills you can actually use between visits with deeper exploration of where your patterns came from and what they've been protecting you from. I don't believe in one-size-fits-all therapy, so the way we work together will look different depending on what you're bringing in. Clients tend to come to me for anxiety, depression, life transitions, family and relationship struggles, processing trauma or difficult past experiences, low self-worth, emotional regulation, and challenges related to substance use or recovery. I also work with adolescents who are navigating the layered pressures of school, identity, family dynamics, and mental health concerns that often go unnoticed or unaddressed for too long. I think therapy works best when you feel like you can be fully yourself in the room, including the parts you've been told are too much, too messy, or too complicated. I take confidentiality seriously, I move at your pace, and I won't push you to share more than you're ready to. At the same time, I'll be honest with you about what I'm noticing, what I think might help, and where I see your strengths even when you can't see them yet. If you're looking for a therapist who feels like a real person and takes your story seriously, I'd love to hear from you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Our first session together is mostly about getting to know each other. I'll ask about what brought you in, what's been going on lately, what you've tried before, what's working in your life, and what you'd like to be different. You don't have to have all the answers or share more than feels comfortable, and you'll have plenty of room to ask me questions too. By the end of our first meeting, my goal is for you to leave with a clearer sense of what we might work on together and whether I feel like the right fit for you. From there, most clients meet with me weekly or biweekly for fifty-minute telehealth sessions. Early in our work, we usually focus on understanding the patterns showing up in your life and building the skills to feel steadier day to day, whether that's managing anxiety, working through depression, regulating big emotions, communicating differently in your relationships, or finding healthier ways to cope. As trust builds and you feel more grounded, the work often deepens. We start exploring where these patterns began, what they've been doing for you, and what it might look like to relate to yourself in a different way. For clients working through substance use or recovery, sessions also include exploring triggers, building relapse prevention skills, and addressing the mental health concerns that often live alongside addiction. I take a non-shaming approach, which means we work from where you actually are, not where you think you should be. I check in regularly about how therapy is feeling for you and adjust based on what's helpful or unhelpful. Treatment is collaborative, and your goals belong to you. Most clients begin to notice meaningful shifts within the first one to three months, though the timeline depends entirely on what you're working on. Therapy isn't linear, and I'm here for the harder weeks as much as the easier ones.
