Getting to know Madison Summerfield

**PLEASE NOTE THIS PROVIDER IS SELF PAY ONLY & DOES NOT ACCEPT INSURANCE** Life can feel overwhelming at times, whether you're navigating anxiety, healing from trauma, struggling with self-esteem, or adjusting to a major life transition. You don't have to figure it out alone. I believe therapy should be a space where you feel genuinely heard, accepted, and supported without judgment. I earned my Master of Arts in Clinical Mental Health Counseling with Honors from Regis University and work with adults ages 18–64. My approach is collaborative and personalized, drawing from Person-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT), Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT), and somatic interventions to help clients better understand themselves while developing practical tools for lasting change.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Clients often describe me as warm, calm, authentic, and easy to talk to. I strive to create a therapeutic relationship built on trust, patience, and openness, where you can show up exactly as you are. I believe meaningful change happens when people feel safe enough to explore their experiences with compassion while also being supported in taking intentional steps toward the life they want. I work with individuals experiencing anxiety, depression, trauma, body image concerns, self-esteem challenges, women's issues, stress, domestic violence recovery, and major life transitions. Whether you're feeling stuck, overwhelmed, or simply ready to understand yourself on a deeper level, my goal is to help you build resilience, reconnect with your strengths, and move forward with greater confidence.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In addition to my clinical training, I have been actively involved in research and advocacy. I presented original research on gender, entitlement, and privilege at both the Great Plains Student Psychology Convention and Student Scholar Day. I also contributed to a research lab examining food insecurity and perceived access to food resources. My passion for supporting individuals struggling with body image and eating disorders led me to found Avila University's chapter of Proud2Bme in partnership with the National Eating Disorders Association (NEDA), where I helped raise awareness about body acceptance and the early signs of eating disorders. Seeking therapy is an investment in yourself, and I am honored to walk alongside clients as they build healthier relationships with themselves, strengthen their coping skills, and create meaningful, lasting change.

Madison is a great therapist. She is very approachable and made my son feel immediately comfortable and at ease. I met her initially but I’m not in the sessions. I just know he is starting to open up about his thoughts and feelings with his family rather than just keeping everything inside. He seems happier, more relaxed. Madison has truly helped my son!!
