“Maeghan is an incredible therapist; very timely, supportive, great listening and thought organization skills. I’ve experienced tangible growth and am often in new and uncomfortable headspaces learning how to be comfortable in them and in my growth. Healthcare is generally unaffordable, but Maeghan is also very helpful in trying to find options for increasing affordability. All around, really great experience with this therapist and platform. ”

Getting to know Maeghan Wood

If you’re feeling anxious, overwhelmed, burned out, or stuck in a life transition, you don’t have to navigate it alone. I work with adults across New York in online therapy to help you better understand what’s going on beneath the surface and start feeling more like yourself again. My approach is grounded in the belief that you are the expert in your own life. Together, we’ll make sense of what you’re carrying, build on your strengths, and create space for sustainable change. Clients often come to therapy feeling drained, uncertain, or disconnected and leave with more clarity and tools to move forward. I earned my MSW from Columbia University School of Social Work and bring experience from the nonprofit sector, including work in mental health access and disaster recovery. That background shapes how I show up: with empathy, awareness, and respect for the real-world stressors that impact your mental health. If you’re ready for support that feels both compassionate and practical, I invite you to book your first session.

What should a new client know about working with you?

You can expect therapy with me to feel genuinely collaborative. I’m not here to “fix” you. I’m here to understand you, and to work alongside you as you figure out what you need. I use a strengths-based, client-centered approach, which means we focus not just on what’s hard, but also on what’s already working for you. Depending on your needs, our work may be more reflective or more directive, and I may incorporate body-based awareness to help you better connect with your emotions and responses. I also bring a social justice lens into the room. Your identities, lived experiences, and the systems you move through all matter. We’ll make space for that—without judgment—so you can better understand yourself and how you relate to the world around you. Above all, I aim to create a space where you can show up as your full self and feel met with curiosity, compassion, and respect.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We’ll start by getting a clear picture of what’s bringing you in and what you want to feel different in your life. Early sessions focus on understanding your experiences, identifying patterns, and clarifying your goals, while helping you feel comfortable and supported in the process. From there, our work evolves based on what you need. Sessions might involve talking through current challenges, exploring emotions and patterns, or building tools to help you manage anxiety, burnout, or transitions more effectively. I’ll meet you where you are, while also gently helping you move toward where you want to be. Over time, many clients notice increased self-awareness, more confidence in their decisions, and a greater ability to navigate stress and change. If you’re ready to start that process, you’re welcome to book a session. I’d be glad to work with you.
