Getting to know Maggie Sweeney

I am Maggie Sweeney. I grew up poor in Brooklyn, spent 23 years in the Navy, lived all over the world, and retired in 2014. I earned my bachelor's degree in liberal arts and science in 2009 and my MS in Mental Health Counseling from Capella University in March 2017. My ex was active-duty Army, and in July 2017 we were stationed at Fort Knox, KY. I earned my PhD in May 2022, and today I live in Elizabethtown, KY. I love learning; I am EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) certified and an MRT (Moral Reconnection Therapy) facilitator certified. I am an experienced EMDR therapist and have witnessed the power of how that modality transforms the lives of my clients. My humanistic, creative, sensitive, and transparent approach is individually tailored. I focus your attention on your strengths using motivational interviewing and confrontation in an honest, genuine, and respectful environment. I take a client-centered and strength-based approach, utilizing a variety of evidence-based practices, including CBT, DBT, EMDR, systems therapy, narrative, and attachment theory.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
