Many people come to therapy feeling stuck in patterns they don’t fully understand, whether shutting down in relationships, feeling overwhelmed by emotions, or carrying a heaviness that doesn’t go away. These responses often have roots in earlier experiences, even if they don’t immediately register as “trauma.” I specialize in EMDR therapy for trauma, depression, and relational wounds. EMDR helps the brain and body process unresolved experiences so they become less overwhelming and no longer interfere with daily life. As this happens, clients often notice increased emotional stability, clearer thinking, and a greater sense of control in their reactions. I have clinical experience working with adolescents in residential treatment settings, survivors of sexual assault, and individuals navigating complex trauma. While I have a strong focus on working with teens, I also support adults who are seeking deeper trauma-focused work.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach is structured, intentional, and focused on helping you understand and shift the underlying patterns driving your symptoms. I prioritize creating a grounded and steady environment where you can feel safe enough to explore difficult material without becoming overwhelmed. EMDR therapy is not just about talking; it involves working directly with how experiences are stored in the nervous system. At the same time, we move at a pace that feels manageable, starting with building trust, then skills to support emotional regulation before getting to the processing of trauma. I tend to work well with clients who want more than surface-level coping strategies and are open to exploring the roots of what they’re experiencing.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

During our first session, I will seek to know more about you, your reasons for seeking therapy and your previous therapy experiences. We will discuss any fears or questions about the process then go from there. Just like meeting any new person, the first few meetings gradually build the therapeutic relationship and trust; this is the groundwork for the deeper work to come. From there, we develop a treatment plan that is tailored to your needs and readiness. Early sessions focus on building stability. This includes helping you understand your nervous system, identifying triggers, and developing tools to manage distress. Once a solid foundation is in place, we begin EMDR processing to address specific experiences that are contributing to current symptoms. Sessions are structured but flexible, with ongoing attention to pacing and ensuring that the work remains effective without feeling overwhelming. Throughout the process, we track progress and adjust as needed to support meaningful, lasting change.
