Mahlon Roun, LCSW

Psychotherapist
AZ
If I were to describe the perfect client I would say that it is someone who has an idea what they want from therapy and is willing to work on their problems. Someone who will act as a partner, in the relationship, and willing to give feedback and be an active participant in therapy. I can help exploring your concerns and how they have affected you. I can help process past events and help you to have a more optimistic opinion of yourself and your abilities. I can offer feedback as you request it, in a nonjudgmental manner that emphasizes your values and expectations. I am a Social Worker with about 25 years experience in behavioral health. I have spent approximately 10 years working in a prison setting, providing individual and group therapy to its residence, as well as helping manage crisis. I have experience in residential substance use facilities and in intensive outpatient programs.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I have been trained in EMDR, Internal Family Systems, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Sand Tray Therapy and Motivational Interviewing. I am currently in the process of becoming certified in EMDR. I have been in the field for 25 years and have about 13 years experience as a therapist. I work with clients who have a history of depression and anxiety, substance use and/or trauma. Our first few sessions will primarily focus around getting to know each other and creating a treatment plan that best fits your need. We will also focus on self soothing and mindfulness to assist with being able to manage symptoms.
