Getting to know Mahmoud Yacoub
Hi, I’m Moudy! I’m a Licensed Professional Counselor (LPC) based in Pittsburgh, PA. I earned my M.S. in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Duquesne University and have been practicing for 3 years post-graduation. I am here to help adults who struggle to find peace and contentment in their lives due to a variety of stresses, symptoms, and crises. I have found that people dealing with anxious thoughts, anger, stress, relationship issues, communication challenges, and boundary concerns have found success with my techniques. Together, we can explore your story with the utmost care and respect to discover the life you want to live and the person you want to be.
I am an eclectic therapist who utilizes Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, and Narrative Therapy, but Existential-Humanism is my theoretical orientation and the foundation of my practice. What does that mean for you? First, I believe you are more than the symptoms and stresses you present; more so, I believe therapy is for more than strictly managing symptoms—it is a wonderful method to help you find out who you are and who you want to be.
Second, I believe that the here-and-now—the present experience between you and me—is meaningful and worth our attention. During our sessions, the interactions we share in the present will hopefully build our therapeutic relationship and—after a time—give us more clarity on who you are. From what you say or don’t say to the body language or tone of voice you use, we can get to know you and—with your permission—sort through the obstacles that keep you from becoming who you want to be.
