Getting to know Maike Dockendorf

Maike is a bilingual German-speaking Licensed Mental Health Counselor. Born in Germany to a multinational family, she has lived in three countries and earned her master’s degree in Counseling and Student Personnel from Minnesota State University, Mankato. Maike approaches counseling through a multicultural lens, helping clients identify, process, and improve concerns they bring with their own unique backgrounds. She incorporates cognitive behavioral and narrative practices and places great importance on fostering a therapeutic relationship where clients can be themselves and feel safe. Maike achieves this by using an empowering approach that highlights clients’ strengths, finding creative interventions, and incorporating humor. She has experience working with individuals, couples, and families from age five and up and enjoys the diversity these different groups bring to her work.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Please note that our specialty is talk therapy. We DO NOT provide medication management or prescription refills. We DO NOT specialize in treatment for substance or alcohol use. Clients must be present in the state of New York at the time of the appointment. Minimum client age: Please note that Maike works with clients who are at least 9 years old.
