Makayla Fedd, LMHC

Psychotherapist
FL
I am Makayla Fedd, LMHC, a Licensed Mental Health Counselor who is passionate about helping women and young adults feel more grounded, confident, and at peace with themselves. Many of the people I work with are navigating big life changes, new seasons of motherhood, stress, anxiety, or questions about who they are and who they want to become. My approach is warm, relatable, and down to earth. I use a mix of different therapy styles, including Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic work, and Experiential techniques. In simple terms, this means we talk through what you are feeling, explore where certain patterns come from, and build practical tools to help you cope and move forward. I believe therapy should feel supportive, not stressful. My goal is to create a safe, comfortable space where you can be honest, take a breath, and feel truly seen. If you would like, Christian faith can also be part of our work together as a source of strength and guidance.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When you work with me, you can expect a warm, welcoming space where you do not have to have everything figured out. My approach is collaborative, compassionate, and grounded in the belief that everyone deserves a place to pause and breathe. I specialize in supporting women and young adults, especially within BIPOC communities, who are navigating motherhood, life transitions, anxiety, and identity concerns. My style is gentle but intentional. I will guide you through deeper self understanding while also helping you build practical tools to use in daily life. I use an eclectic blend of Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic work, and Experiential techniques. Sessions often include reflection, skill building, emotional awareness, and space to be fully yourself. If you desire it, Christian faith can be naturally incorporated into our work as a source of strength and grounding. My goal is to help you feel supported, understood, and empowered.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Your therapeutic journey begins with building a strong foundation of understanding. In our first session, we explore what brought you in, what you have been carrying, and what you hope to achieve. I ask questions about your history, current stressors, support systems, and goals so we can create a clear and meaningful plan together. In ongoing sessions, we focus on both insight and action. A typical session may include exploring patterns, identifying emotions, practicing coping skills, or reframing unhelpful thoughts. I use Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Psychodynamic exploration, and Experiential approaches to help you understand yourself more deeply and feel more grounded in daily life. We move at a pace that feels safe for you. Some sessions are reflective and calm. Others are practical and focused on developing new skills. All sessions provide space to be honest, open, and real. Faith can be integrated for clients who want a spiritually rooted approach.
