What should a new client know about working with you?

Intake sessions are the opportunity to get to know one another, and start building rapport which will be important for sessions to come! I tend to start in the driver’s seat, guiding the first session with questions about your mental health, stressors, support, and goals. I will take cues from you to determine how much to lead, versus follow, allowing you to mold the therapy space. The therapy space is super adaptable, and based on your personality, presenting challenges, and desired approach we can ensure you get what you need.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

When possible, I like to confirm insurance information before the intake session so you have an idea of your financial responsibility when it comes to therapy. Intake sessions will be very explorative, starting closer to the surface and being able to build trust to dive deeper in later sessions. I want to learn about what brings you to therapy, what stresses you out, how you handle challenges, who supports you in hard and joyful times, what you enjoy in your free time. This information helps me paint a picture of who you are, and how therapy can be a tool in supporting your mental health.
