Mandy Browning, LCSW

Psychotherapist
MO
My name is Mandy Browning, and I am a Clinical Social Worker licensed in the states of Missouri and Arkansas. I have worked with clients of all ages, but since the pandemic hit, my primary clientele have been adults. My approach I do quite a bit of work with trauma, depression and anxiety. I use CBT and TF-CBT. When I see a client in-office, I also use EMDR. My focus I am a Certified Integrative Mental Health Professional, as well as a Certified Clinical Trauma Professional. I do place a degree of focus on the connection between our physical and mental health when I am working with clients. My communication style I tend to be a pretty easy-going person, and use humor as well. I try to be warm and supportive, but will confront a client on unhealthy behaviors and thought patterns as well. My journey to mental healthcare My introduction to the field of mental health started when my oldest child had significant behavior issues and was diagnosed at age 3 with ADHD. I was a young mom and in college at the time, and ended up majoring in sociology with a minor in psychology. I went to work for the Children's Division after graduation, and after a year, returned to school to major in social work. I graduated with my MSW in 2008 and promptly went to work as a therapist. I know the struggle it takes to parent a child with mental health needs; as a mom of four, the oldest two have ADHD, and my youngest has Down Syndrome and medical needs. My goals for you I ask about what a client's goals are in the first session, and let them know that if there is something we are doing/trying that isn't working for them, we can always change it and try something else. Therapy isn't a one size fits all; what works for one person may not work for another. I will work with my client to find out what works best for them. My first session with you I do a lot of history taking in the first appointment, as well as goal setting.
