Getting to know Mandy Goldstein

I practice from an eclectic approach with various mental health issues. My focus is on the relationship with the client, seeing everyone and every issue as individual and unique in an effort to help gain insight, understand maladaptive patterns, and build healthier stress responses. I hold a Master's in Mental Health Counseling from City University of New York, Brooklyn College, which informs my commitment to personalized and effective care.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is a holistic one. I believe that every client has specific needs and areas they would like to improve so I do not subscribe to one set therapeutic approach and do whatever is best to meet the client’s needs at the time. I believe in a client’s autonomy and power in their therapeutic experience and will follow each client’s lead. Working together we will gain insight into your specific issues and set realistic and obtainable goals. I am here to support you and listen to your needs and wants in a completely judgment-free space.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Sessions are client-focused and driven. Client's should expect to speak about what issues are most pressing in their lives at the moment. I very much follow my client's lead and work with them on what they feel is needed.

Mandy has been an incredible therapist for the last 4 months for me! I find myself looking forward to our sessions every week. She’s sympathetic while also being direct and firm when I’m being ridiculous, and actively offers ideas for solutions and new tactics to try in my every day life. She seems genuinely invested in my life and wellbeing. She’s not a passive listener at all, which I don’t love. She asks good questions and is proactive with advice and ideas.
Mandy is the best. She listens and makes me feel comfortable talking with her I'm so happy to be her patient! I can talk to her with ease
I have tried therapy two other times before seeing Mandy and wasn’t sure it was going to help me as I didn’t have great experiences. When I finally started seeing her, I began to see real change and understand myself so much better. She is incredibly smart, kind, and extremely welcoming and easy to talk to. I have never felt more comfortable talking to someone about such difficult topics than I have with her. Mandy genuinely cares about her patients, encourages them, and understands that each person requires a specific approach. I consider myself lucky to have found her, and I would recommend her to anyone without a doubt!
