Psychotherapist
138 25th St, Ste 801-A5, New York, NY
Psychotherapy can serve as a safe, nurturing, and nonjudgmental space to work through challenges in your everyday life. As a psychotherapist and music therapist with a Master’s in Social Work and a Master’s in Music Therapy from New York University, and a Bachelor’s degree from McGill University, my approach is integrative, person-centered, and strength-based. Being seen, heard, and accepted for who we are is a universal need. It is when people feel seen and accepted by others that they are able to fully embrace themselves and show up authentically in all aspects of their lives. I believe that clients have everything they need within themselves to reach their full potential. My role is to guide you to embody parts of yourself that you may be struggling to accept, discover aspects of yourself that you may be unfamiliar with, and explore different ways of coping to live a more fulfilling life.

What should a new client know about working with you?

As a therapist of color, it is my priority to understand how your intersecting identities have impacted your life and your way of thinking, as well as how that shapes the way you navigate the world. In psychotherapy treatment, I use a combination of attachment-based, psychodynamic, process-oriented, and mindfulness-based approaches, along with cognitive behavioral therapy (CBT) techniques. “When words fail, music speaks” - Hans Christen Andersen Music therapy can be incredibly helpful and powerful when we struggle to talk about difficult experiences, especially when we may not always have the words to express how we truly feel. Music allows us to tap into our inner child and creativity. Together, we can explore and make meaning out of your experiences. In music therapy, I use a combination of improvisation, lyric-analysis, music composition, and sound healing to supplement the verbal processing of talk therapy. My priority is to always meet my clients where they are, and tailor my approach based on their specific treatment goals and needs.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We will first meet for one intake session. The goal is to get to know you, find goals and values, and see if working together feels right. Then, we identify themes/topics to work on together and tailor sessions to your needs
