Getting to know Marc Alter
Welcome! I provide down-to-earth talk therapy to individuals struggling with anxiety and/or depression symptoms. I help individuals figure out their problems and communicate more effectively within the important relationships in their lives. I will help you deal more effectively with your anxiety. I hold a Master’s in Social Work from New York University.
What should a new client know about working with you?
I am friendly and down to earth. I interact with you actively (no silent therapist nodding quietly the whole time). I give feedback as much or as little as you like. I help you with tried and true coping skills and am excellent at understanding one's personal struggle. Lastly, I help you to understand your interpersonal environment, helping to make sense of an at times hectic world and come up with more effective approaches dealing with people in your life.

For Aetna and Cigna, I work with out-of-network benefits. So, If there is a "deductible", that would just mean you pay regular session price until the sessions costs accumulated go past your deductible amount. If you don't know this deductible amount, call the member services number on the back of your card to ask customer service or you can ask me to do this for you.

Doctor let me speak. I’ve seen doctors who sit there and don’t even look at you. This isn’t one of them. He heard me out, he spoke to me. I felt comfortable being heard for the first time in about 8 years.
