Psychotherapist
HI
Hi there, I'm Marc! My name is Marc J. Malate, and I am a Licensed Clinical Social Worker under the jurisdiction of Hawai‘i. I earned my Master’s in Social Work from the University of Hawai‘i. My goal is to help guide individuals and groups to explore their personal journeys by utilizing strengths and working on weaknesses. My approach I focus on mindfulness, thoughts and behaviors that affect outcomes, cultural influences and interpretations, and creating a space for a "talk story." My focus My background is in bereavement and grief. Loss is not just losing someone in the physical world; it also includes changes in life such as ending a connection with another person, a job, a move, and more. My hope is to assist those interested in working with me to explore themselves and their personal goals. My communication style I strive to create an open space where individuals and groups feel comfortable. I encourage everyone to explore providers until they find a match for their personal journey. My journey to mental healthcare Living in Pae ‘Aina, it’s common to work multiple jobs—I personally found it challenging to make appointments outside of regular business hours. My goal is to provide additional support during late afternoons, evenings, and weekends for those unable to meet during regular office hours. My goals for you I prioritize your goals and take as much time as needed to review topics to help decrease any feelings of being overwhelmed. My first session with you I encourage clients to treat the first session as a time to see if there is a connection and interest to move forward. Maybe not right away; however, always keep options open, as there are many providers who may be a better fit in whatever capacity. This is your time to explore yourself and others toward your goals.
