Marcia McIntosh

Psychotherapist
TX
I believe every person is deserving of dignity, respect, and acceptance. Therapy is a place where individuals can experience these while also learning skills to ignite their innate positive potential. My approach is based on Person-Centered Therapy for just this reason. I walk with people and help them discover their abilities and learn new ones so they can better manage challenges and obstacles. I help them recognize inconsistencies between their expectations and experiences and develop tangible steps to reach consistency and balance. I believe that my clients are the experts of their own lives. I provide an outside, non-judgmental, fully accepting, and empathetic perspective to highlight cognitive and behavioral patterns that have been hindering their growth. I would like to see every person reach their full potential and surpass their goals. My clinical background includes working with adults and adolescents on a long-term individual outpatient basis in areas such as a variety of anxiety and depressive disorders, life changes, bipolar disorder, relationship issues, self-esteem, spirituality/religion/existential issues, stress, grief/loss, and thought disorders. I have experience working with individuals challenged with severe mental illness and have worked in crisis intervention and prevention in Partial Hospitalization Programs (PHP) and Early Intervention Support Services (EISS) programs. I have worked with families within Child Protection Services, assisting parents in overcoming challenges of loss, separation, grief, stress management, and life skills. Additionally, I have experience working with intellectually and developmentally disabled individuals in residential, vocational, and clinical settings. I hold a Master's degree in Pastoral Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Neumann University and a Bachelor's degree from Wilmington University.
