“I’m a relatively private person and therapy was not an easy decision for me. But Marcia is wonderfully easy to talk to. I’ve shared some fairly controversial subjects with her, always without feeling judgement. She is very good at reflecting back things she hears me say that perhaps I’m not recognizing. She calls out my strengths and successes. And she gently follows up and holds me accountable for my own goals. I’m grateful to Marcia for seeing me through some very rocky times in my life.”

Getting to know Marcia Winter

Have you felt stuck and need help reaching your goals or lack the motivation to make the changes you want in your life? I hope to help you reach your goals and full potential through solution-based therapy. I have 25 years of clinical experience working with clients, children, and families. I am a licensed clinical social worker and earned my Master’s in Social Work from Florida State University. I began my career in the child dependency field, working closely with children and families. Currently, I work in a hospital setting as an emergency room social worker. Throughout my career, I have had a variety of experiences with patients ranging from newborns to older adults and have worked with diverse populations. Many of the patients I see have experienced a traumatic event or recent life change. In my current role, I primarily provide brief interventions, though I would welcome the opportunity to build longer-term relationships with clients to help them achieve their goals. I have extensive experience supporting clients dealing with anxiety, depression, relationship issues, career challenges, grief and loss, and trauma. My therapy style is open and nonjudgmental. I primarily use solution-based and cognitive behavioral therapy approaches. I believe in treating everyone with respect and compassion and understand that a good fit between therapist and client is essential. I am open to feedback on how to make our relationship work best for you. Together, I hope we can create weekly goals to work toward the long-term change you are seeking. Taking the step to seek therapy and make changes in your life is significant. If you are ready to take that step, I am here to support and help you on your journey. I look forward to working with you!

What should a new client know about working with you?

My first session I like to start with a brief overview of the what to expect in therapy, confidentiality and anything I must report by law that may come up in therapy. I then want to learn more about you and why you are seeking therapy. I try to set realistic goals each session to help you reach the results you hope to achieve. It is common to take few steps forward and sometimes a couple steps back in the process, which is completely normal.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
