I graduated from the University of Washington with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Interdisciplinary Studies and from the University of Washington Tacoma with a Master’s degree in Social Work. I have over 20 years of experience working in behavioral health, providing supportive therapy, case management, and re-entry services. Additionally, I have more than 10 years of managed care experience working in insurance companies, where I performed utilization management, case management, and case management supervision. I am a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker and am glad you are considering seeking treatment.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I hope clients feel heard, understood, and helped after our sessions. Since these goals may mean different things to different people, I end by saying I don't shy away from difficult or taboo topics during therapy. In short, I value open and honest discussion of any behavioral health topic, as long as I am qualified to discuss it.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

In providing therapy, I listen actively, take good notes, ask clarifying questions as needed, and seek as much understanding as possible before increasing my own talking. My approach prevents me from jumping to inaccurate conclusions, making ineffective treatment recommendations, or asking to repeat yourself unnecessarily. Please be well - Marco.
