Getting to know Margaret Day

*This provider does not accept any Medicaid or Medicare plans* About Margaret The core of my practice is believing that while everyone's life experiences are different, and those experiences are what make each individual unique, one thing we all share is the desire to be understood, supported, and accepted as our authentic selves. My goal as a therapist is to help you discover what makes you, you, and guide you through the challenges that come with self-acceptance. As an African American woman who grew up in New York City, I understand the importance of being racially and culturally sensitive and recognize the weight that identity carries in our country. Together, we will unpack what is creating discord in your life and explore ways to cope with these obstacles, leading you toward a more fulfilling life. We will create a welcoming space that feels comfortable and safe, where your vulnerability will be met with empathy. Our work will focus on your long-term happiness by identifying your strengths and finding ways to address perceived weaknesses and challenges. I hold a Master's in Social Work from Columbia University, which has equipped me with the knowledge and skills to support you effectively. Said one of Margaret's patients: “I absolutely love my therapist. She's compassionate, caring, incredibly smart, and very insightful. She has held my hand through tough times and has seen me get to the other side. I am so grateful to be working with her!”

What should a new client know about working with you?

I work with clients who are looking to increase their self-understanding and are interested in exploring patterns in their lives that are no longer serving them. As a woman who became a mother later in life, I understand the pull many people feel to become parents and how the process can drastically change one’s life. I work with both adults and children to provide guidance on creating healthy boundaries and relationships, as well as navigating the challenges we face in life.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Life is a constant cycle of growing, changing, and evolving into different versions of ourselves. As we grow, our perspectives widen and we are able to reflect on how certain behaviors and choices are affecting our ability to reach our goals. I walk my clients through this learning process and give them the tools and strategies they need to conquer the challenges they are facing in life. Please note: Any changes to this appointment — including cancellations or rescheduling — must be made directly through your Zocdoc patient account. Providers are unable to modify or cancel appointments on a patient’s behalf through the platform. To make changes, simply log in to your Zocdoc account.
