***New patient requests are being temporarily waitlisted. Don't let that discourage you! Be one of the first to have access to new appointments as they become available! Your journey on the path of healing can feel very overwhelming and lonely, but it doesn't have to be. When our lives become difficult, it can cause us to feel disconnected from those around us and from our sense of being. We can feel alone and without power over our lives. When this happens, finding connection can be scary, but also as simple as reaching out. By working together, we can find the best way to overcome your personal circumstances and create a life that you can enjoy. As a social worker, I look at the whole person as they are within their environment. I believe that it isn't only what happens to us, but also what is going on around us, that influences how we see ourselves. For the last ten years, I have worked with all ages who have experienced different traumas including abuse and neglect, domestic violence, and more. I hold a Master's in Social Work from the University of Illinois, Urbana-Champaign, and a Bachelor's degree from Blackburn College. Our work together will help you find your inner sense of peace and a new sense of hope.

What should a new client know about working with you?

My approach to therapy is one of compassion and understanding. I have had extensive experience working with traumatized individuals and families, those experiencing anxiety and depression impacting their daily functioning, and individuals marginalized by current social issues. It can be very difficult to share stories that you may have never told anyone else or received judgment and criticism if you had the courage to share those stories. Life can be hard, dark, and lonely and it can feel like a burden to know that the only way out of the forest is through it. I serve as a guide to self-discovery until you are in a position where you can hold your own hope, carry your own light, to feel capable of serving yourself in the ways that you have been able to serve others. We can work together to find your sense of peace and home within yourself.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Therapy can be a big step into a better future but knowing what to expect can help to ease the transition. During the first appointment, you and I will work together to share your personal history. This allows me to understand better what is going on in your life right now as well as historical issues that may be influencing your present day. Afterwards, we will develop treatment goals - what do you want to be different in your life and how will that look? Once that is completed, we will be able to start breaking down those goals into actionable steps. This is not something that you have to figure out alone. I will help to guide you towards different approaches that are things that you are willing to do. Each plan is individualized toward your specific needs and goals. We will spend our time together finding out what is working and what hasn't been as successful as you had hoped and refining our plans together while you have the opportunity to share what has been affecting you negatively and celebrate successes. I am here to hear your story in its entirety, without judgment, and with my full support. Your successes are my primary focus.
