Margaret Rittenhouse, LCSW

Psychotherapist
5821 Staples Mill Rd, Henrico, VA
My 25+ years of clinical experience has been devoted to treating adults dealing with loss, anxiety, depression, trauma, illness, anger issues or transitions from one life situation to another. My approach is practical and problem-focused. I take time to understand your goals and what might be standing in the way of achieving them. In the context of a supportive and collaborative relationship, I will help you honor how you have coped so far as well as explore new resources/tools. I use Cognitive Behavioral and Brief Solutions Focused therapies to help you move past whatever is blocking your progress to becoming your best self. If unresolved trauma is a factor in your current distress, I can strategically add EMDR to the treatment plan. I work holistically, addressing your physical, emotional, social, and spiritual functioning. My approach is guided by the belief that individuals are naturally striving toward healing and wholeness and my job is to be a partner on that journey. I value diversity of all kinds in a culturally sensitive manner. I am available to individuals and couples for virtual appointments. I earned my MSW from Loyola University of Chicago and my BA in Business Management/ Managerial Relations from Catholic University of America, Washington, D.C. I have been a Behavioral Health Counselor & Manager of HelpLink Employee Assistance Program at VCU Health Systems. I was also a Senior Human Resources Employee Relations Analyst, Chesterfield County Government for 7 years. Employee Assistance Program, (EAP) has been an area of specialization as I understand the impact of systems on people, families and groups. Post graduate and continuing education courses include: Spirituality and Social Work, Solution-Focused Brief Therapy, EMDR, Grief, Anger Management, and Healing from Trauma.
