Getting to know Margaret Shouse

I am here to meet you where you are at and to give you a safe comfortable space to feel heard and understood. I welcome you to contact me directly for a free 15-20 minute consultation. What should a new client know about working with you?

The ups and downs of everyday life can not only cause you uncertainty and exhaustion but can also make individuals feel stuck with what to do next. This can lead to us doubting our self-worth and our ability to live a more fulfilling life. As a therapist, I am here to meet you where you are at in this moment. I want to lend you a listening ear and provide you comfort in knowing that you have my full support. Any consistent nervousness or doubts will be met with kindness and patience as we work together to help navigate how to make your life more enjoyable.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

Each session of mine looks completely different. That is because I take my time to get to know each and every client and build our relationship so that our session can look however the client feels is the best way to do therapy. This is your time and it is valuable so I build my sessions around my clients needs and what they are looking for. While I do talk therapy, our sessions can explore a variety of different approaches. I find the one that works best is an eclectic approach, meaning I do not have just one way of doing therapy. By creating a supportive and trusting therapeutic relationship with the client, we create their sessions together. If that means just needing a space to vent, then we do that. If you want specific coping strategies we can work on that. Every session is unique because I believe you cannot just plan a therapy session. It happens naturally and it is a collaborative effort between the client and the therapist. I also practice from a person-centered approach, in which genuine connection, trust and care between the therapist and client is critical to client growth. I support a variety of clients on navigating life changes and challenges including generalized anxiety, panic disorder, depression, substance use/addiction, and ADHD.
