Getting to know Margo Claybrooks

Hello, I'm Margo. I've been working in the mental health field for several years, providing services to individuals, couples, families, and psychiatric groups. My journey has taken me through various settings, including inpatient and outpatient treatment facilities, intensive outpatient facilities, private practice, and even counseling in public schools. I've had the privilege of working with clients ranging from children to older adults. My current focus is working with adults, including individual, couples, groups, and consultations. I'm a Licensed and Board Certified Therapist. I hold a Master's degree in Mental Health Counseling from Long Island University in Brooklyn, NY, and a Master's degree in Education from Bowie State University in Bowie, MD. My experience and passion for helping others remain steadfast. My niche is in working with couples and clients suffering from anxiety, depression, trauma, and life stressors. I firmly believe that our behavior is shaped by early life experiences lodged in our unconscious. These events can create negative core beliefs that influence our thoughts and relationships. My approach is insight-oriented, as I believe lasting change happens from the inside out. However, I also encourage outside-in changes to promote insight and healthier outcomes. While my approach is eclectic, it is primarily guided by Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. I understand that each person is unique, and your concerns are specific to you. Together, we will find the best approach to meet your treatment goals. It's important to me that I don't fit all clients into one box. I know it's not easy to ask for help, especially from a stranger. Therapy is a journey, and I strive to provide a warm and welcoming environment to develop a genuine therapeutic relationship with all my clients. This connection is crucial in easing the journey towards better mental health.
