The stigma behind psychotherapy is based on the notion that somehow asking for help and working with a professional means that one is weak. Ironically, this notion could not be further from the truth. Making the decision to look at your story and explore how patterns within it have impacted your goals, relationships, losses, parenting, work, and outlook is profoundly difficult to do. It is looking at ourselves with the commitment to not look away. Through therapy, we develop tools to magnify our strengths and address our challenges, offering a path that enables us to look at ourselves and feel pride, hope, and empowerment. If you are someone who will summon the courage to look at your life in ways that don’t always feel good in order to move forward, I invite you to join me in accepting and embracing the you that you have always wanted to be. I specialize in work with adolescents, young adults, and adults dealing with anxiety, depression, trauma, PTSD, self-injurious behavior, suicidal ideation, ADHD, among other issues. My work relies most heavily on Psychodynamic Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral-informed therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy. Despite my belief that therapy is hard work, I strive to provide an environment that is warm yet direct, offering a strong sense of safety and good humor as appropriate. Life is many things, right? And funny is sometimes one of them. I hold a Master’s degree in Clinical Social Work from Bryn Mawr College.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The first few sessions of our work will involve us getting to know each other, and your telling me what brought you to therapy and what you would like to get out of it. I will ask you questions, about your life and the meanings you have drawn from it. We will then focus on goals you would like to achieve during our work together, and we will use them as our guide. As we explore your life, your goals, and your hopes, I will listen, share observations, and address patterns that appear. We will then work together to modify or change these patterns in a way that positively impacts your experience as opposed to getting in your way. If you are looking for someone who will simply listen and be a blank slate, I am not the therapist for you. However, if you want to see a therapist who does not check her own humanity at the door, you have just found one. I work through warmth, laughter, and good humor to gently pave the way for difficult work to be explored while encouraging clients to confront uncomfortable truths and giving them the tools to address them effectively.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
