Getting to know Maria Gutierrez-Daniels

I am a licensed clinical social worker (LCSW) with a Master’s in Social Work from California State University, Long Beach. I have provided mental health services since 2006, with over 10 years as a licensed clinical social worker. During this time, I have had the opportunity to work with different age groups and populations. Most recently, I have worked with women and their partners experiencing perinatal and postpartum disorders, as well as with children aged 0-5. As a bilingual therapist, I have been able to meet the needs of monolingual patients in underserved communities. My work has ranged from intensive outpatient services, school-based and home visiting programs, to serving children within the foster care system, at-risk groups, and the homeless population. During my time at CalWorks Downtown MH, I facilitated group supervision for unlicensed staff and mentored incoming staff. In 2016-2017, I participated in the Napa Infant-Parent Mental Health Fellowship, which further advanced my knowledge of the 0-5 population. Currently, I am focused on obtaining my Perinatal Mental Health Certification (PMH-C) to provide greater access to the perinatal and postpartum community.
