My name is Maria, and I am a licensed social worker with a Master's in Social Work from Hunter College, City University of New York. I have three years of experience in psychotherapy, primarily working with individuals struggling with anxiety, depression, post-traumatic stress disorder, childhood trauma/complex trauma, domestic violence, and cancer patients and survivors. I tailor my approach to meet your needs and prioritize your goals for therapy using a variety of therapeutic techniques. Often, I incorporate mindfulness, including meditation and other methods, to help process trauma or address different symptoms and challenges you might be facing. A trusting and collaborative therapeutic relationship is very important to support you on your journey toward healing and growth. I provide a culturally sensitive atmosphere where you can feel safe, judgment-free, and heard. With my multicultural background, I offer therapy in both English and Spanish.

What is your typical process for working with clients?
Each client is different and therefore an individual approach is important to me. The first few sessions are focused on an assessment — getting important information about the client, and background—to get to know the client and then we can determine which therapeutic approach is best for the patient. Setting goals and measurement of the goals is fundamental.
