Most people don't reach out to a therapist the moment something feels off. They wait. They push through. They tell themselves it's not bad enough yet. By the time they contact me, they're usually carrying something heavy: a marriage that feels distant, a family that keeps having the same fight, anxiety that won't let up, or a life that just doesn't feel like theirs anymore. I'm Maria, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist at Acceptance Path Counseling. I work with individuals, couples, and families who are ready for more than surface-level advice. My clients often say the same thing: "I just want to feel like myself again." Whether that means reconnecting with your partner, breaking old patterns, or finally feeling at peace in your own life, that's the work we do together.

Getting to know Maria Landa

What should a new client know about working with you?

You don't need to have it all figured out before you walk in. You don't even need to know exactly what's wrong. That's my job, not yours. Here's what you can expect from me: You'll be treated with respect, never judged. Your goals will guide our work, not a script. And I won't hand you platitudes when what you need is real clinical work. Whether you're coming in alone or with someone you love, my job is to help you understand what's actually happening and give you a clear path forward.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We keep it simple, because the path forward should feel clear, not overwhelming: 1. We start with a conversation. In our first session, I want to understand what's actually happening in your life and relationships, not just a list of symptoms. 2. We build a plan together. You'll always know what we're working on and why. No mystery, no jargon. 3. You start moving forward. Session by session, we work toward what matters to you: stronger relationships, healthier patterns, and feeling like yourself again. Many clients tell me that just having a clear plan brings relief before the deeper work even begins.
