Getting to know Maria (Mia) Bowick

Mia holds double masters degrees in Counseling Psychology and Applied Theatre Arts. She started her career about 10 years ago in her home state of California working with adults, teens and their families struggling with substance abuse and co-occuring disorders. Mia has worked in residential and intensive outpatient settings and has now moved to working in private practice. Mia’s main focus in her work with clients is having a unique and creative approach to each individual’s healing process. Being trained in various modalities from CBT and DBT to expressive arts and spiritually informed care Mia is committed to finding a healing approach suited for you and your loved ones. Mia recently moved to Colorado from California with her husband, two daughters, ages 4 and 2, and their dog Olive. When she’s not busy hanging with her girls and exploring her new state, you can find Mia curled up on the couch with a stack of books.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I take a multi-faceted approach with all of my clients. Whether you're looking for straight talk therapy, or something more creative and spiritually driven, I feel confident we can find a method that works for you.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

We will start off the first few sessions getting to know each other and going through your goals. Then, together, we will come up with a treatment approach that aligns with your values and goals. We will continue to work together to achieve the goals you have set for yourself, making changes along the way to continually stay aligned with your progress.

Sliding scale: Offers lower out-of-pocket fees on an individual basis, typically based on your ability to pay

I offer sliding scale to those who are in financial necessity. I provide super bills for out of network insurance reimbursement. I take credit card payments, Zelle or Venmo. You can pay per session or I will charge your card at the end of each month.
