Hello, I'm Maria, a Licensed Professional Counselor with a Master's Degree in Counseling from the University of Houston-Clear Lake. My journey in the field of mental health has been diverse and enriching, having worked in an Intensive Outpatient Program for adults as well as in a school setting. This has allowed me to engage with a wide variety of clients, including individuals, groups, and families, from various cultural and socio-economic backgrounds. Over the past few years, I have particularly focused on working with children and adolescents, helping them navigate the complexities of mental and behavioral health challenges. My approach to counseling is integrative and client-centered, drawing from Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Solution-Focused Therapy, and Narrative Therapy. I firmly believe that you are the expert of your own life, and my role is to collaborate with you in the treatment planning process. I also value the input and involvement of family members, as I see therapy as a holistic process that benefits from multiple perspectives.
