Hi, welcome to my page. My name is Maria, and I am a therapist passionate about helping people. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Social Work from Adelphi University. The foundation of my therapeutic approach is Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, but I also incorporate other methodologies to meet the needs of each unique individual. My approach is flexible because I understand the importance of your individuality. It is important to me that my clients feel safe and comfortable when they start therapy, whether it is their first time or they have had past experiences. My environment is safe, non-judgmental, and supportive. I work with teens, adults, and couples. I sometimes use worksheets, recommend books, and suggest phone apps to support the work we do together. I am interactive and engaged in my sessions, and I always encourage my clients to give feedback on what feels comfortable, helpful, and useful.

What should a new client know about working with you?

Starting therapy is an intimidating process but choosing the right therapist to walk you through your discomfort makes all the difference. Once we connect, usually over the phone, I will walk you through the starting process. We will go over the challenges and issues you want to explore and I will describe the framework around my practice. Together we will build a plan that is tailored to you and feels comfortable. I encourage you to ask me questions and talk through any hesitations you might have. We can go over frequency of sessions and any questions you might have about insurance reimbursement.
