Getting to know Maria Valencia

I have been a Licensed Professional Counselor for almost 13 years. I have been in the mental health field for 15 years. I started working at non profit organizations doing parenting classes and anger management. I worked several years with children and adolescents that suffered trauma and abuse. We implemented techniques such as cogntive behavior techniques and trauma focused-CBT. As a counselor, I also worked with returning soldiers from Iraq and Afghanistan with PTSD and issues of adjustment. I have experience working with adults as well with issues such as aniety, depression, self-esteem, and grief.The populations have been mainly latino since I live on the border. My passion is definitely the helping field by helping familes find their own light and motivation.
