Getting to know Mariam Saibu

Hello, I'm Mariam. I am a licensed professional counselor with a passion for working with women to address complex trauma and a variety of mood disorders. As a somatic therapist, my counseling approach involves utilizing embodiment techniques to create healing in both the body and the mind. I am also trained in a variety of eclectic approaches such as EMDR, DBT, and ACT. My approach in counseling is to identify unhealthy control mechanisms that create pain and suffering in order to push clients to effective actions that create a healthy and meaningful life. I also understand there is no one-size-fits-all approach, and I am constantly utilizing eclectic approaches to treat clients based on their individual needs. I hold an MA and I am a Certified Trauma Specialist and Licensed Professional Counselor. Additionally, I have completed the SonderMind Baseline Veteran Education Program, which allows me to better serve our veteran community. My specialties include working with individuals facing depression, developmental disabilities, eating disorders, anxiety, ADHD, autism spectrum support, bipolar disorder, family relationships, grief/bereavement, life transitions, medical issues/physical health, medication evaluation, multicultural/diversity issues, OCD, perinatal support (pregnancy, prenatal, postpartum), phobias, PTSD, psychosis/schizophrenia, learning disorders, stress, suicidal ideation and/or self-harming, trauma, traumatic brain injury, anger management, and more.
