Marianne Redmond Lopez, LCSW

Marianne Redmond Lopez, LCSW

Psychotherapist
VA
Born in Missouri, adopted at six weeks, and moved to Illinois, I relocated to the mountains of Southwest Virginia with my family when I was eight years old. It was at that time when immediate and extended family members' battles with mental illness became more apparent, which drove my initial interest in therapy. This interest soon developed into a passion to help individuals, couples, families, and marriages survive and thrive through their toughest moments. I received my Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Mary Washington (formerly Mary Washington College) in 1993 and my Master of Social Work degree from Virginia Commonwealth University in 1996. My approach to the therapeutic process encourages transparency, collaboration, and compassionate progression to maximize life experiences. I believe that attachments in life are significant, and the lack of them creates situations that can be overwhelming and hard to navigate. My approach is to facilitate an environment filled with trust, humility, and free of judgment in order to explore emotions and vulnerabilities that lie below the surface. Based on the individual needs of my clients, I utilize many modalities including Emotionally Focused Therapy, Solution Focused Therapy, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy, Person-Centered, Client-Focused, Reality Therapy, Mindfulness Therapy, Systems Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Attachment Therapy. I am an active member of the National Association of Social Workers. I will dig in, helping you heal from the inside, not just teach you skills for symptom relief. I want all the info? because that helps me help you to help yourself. Got it? I'm analytical, use my irreverent sense of humor (when appropriate), solution-focused, and research-oriented. I am experienced with older adolescents, adults, and couples. I primarily work with women and men, first responders, emergency professionals, teachers, clergy, and other helping professionals.
