Getting to know Maribel Silva

I grew up in Southern California and am bilingual in English and Spanish. Originally, I'm from the Coachella Valley and spent my adolescent and early adulthood in Orange County. I graduated from Cal State University, Fullerton with a BA in Psychology and a Minor in Chicana/o Studies. I went on to receive my MA in Marriage and Family Therapy from Alliant International University (formerly California School of Professional Psychology) in Irvine. I've worked in multiple settings with diverse populations from work in local community agencies, specialized programs in a school setting, in-home therapy with children and families who are in the system, and with people who have experienced abuse, neglect, and trauma. Despite what people go through I like to view people as a whole and not ask "what is wrong" with them but more like "what did they experience" and "what are their strengths" to help them move past what is troubling them.
