A passionate and innovative mental health professional with ten years of adolescent mental health experience, including five years in a clinical setting generating diagnoses, treatment plans, and providing psychotherapy. Maricela is highly skilled in conducting evidence-based training and presentations on adolescent mental health topics, suicidality screenings, assessments, mindfulness-based stress reduction techniques, and therapeutic approaches for gender sexual minorities.
Maricela provides psychotherapy for individuals struggling with intense mental health issues such as social anxiety, depression, self-injurious behavior (SIB), body image concerns, trauma/stress-related disorders, and suicidality. She also conducts research-based training and presentations on diverse mental health topics, specializing in suicidality screenings, risk assessments, and therapeutic approaches for gender sexual minorities (GSM).
Ms. Ponce holds a Master’s degree in Rehabilitation Science and a Bachelor’s degree from The University of Texas Rio Grande Valley. She is an active member of the Texas Counseling Association (TCA), American Counseling Association (ACA), and the Society for Sexual, Affectional, Intersex, and Gender Expansive Identities (SAIGE). Through these organizations, she frequently participates in trainings focused on adolescents and GSM individuals struggling with depression, anxiety, body image, suicidality, and self-perception.
Passionate about adolescent mental health, Maricela’s motto is advocating and educating. In 2024, the Rio Grande Valley Counseling Association awarded her Licensed Professional Counselor of the Year for her consistent advocacy in adolescent mental health. She also presented for the second time at the RGVCA annual counselor conference on Motivational Interviewing techniques and using the PHQ-9 Modified for Adolescents in a school setting. Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
