Marie Capobianco, LMHC

Psychotherapist
RI
I worked with individuals with developmental disabilities and Mental Health disorders for 40 years. For the past 30 years, I have focused more on the Behavioral Health needs of individuals holistically. My approach Person-centered planning specific to the individual, their goals, and dreams is achieved by working cooperatively with the person, and when applicable, their families and professional teams. The journey to understanding your goals, gifts, and desires can, at times, be tumultuous, but recognizing that is where skill development begins. My focus Throughout my career, I have gained extensive experience working with individuals with Depression, Anxiety, Obsessive Compulsive Disorders, PTSD, Grief, Self injury, Traumatic Brain Injury, Mood Disorders, Alzheimer’s disease, Conduct Disorders, and the stress associated with being a caregiver for a loved one. My communication style My communication style is direct and honest to support individuals through a challenging journey. My journey to mental healthcare I received my bachelor's degree from College of St Joseph’s in Human Services and Special Education. I continued my education with a master's degree (MA) in Agency Counseling and a Certificate of Advanced Graduate Study (CAGS) in Mental Health Counseling from Rhode Island College (RIC). My goals for you Therapy is a partnership between therapist and client. Goals are individualized to what a person chooses to achieve from our time together. Always looking to develop a mentally healthy lifestyle through skill-building. My first session with you The first session is a chance to get to know each other and gain a mutual understanding of what brings you to therapy. For some individuals, it may be difficult to verbalize the challenges that bring you to therapy; we can interpret that part of your journey as a team.
