“Marie is very well-informed, experienced and intelligent. She stays up-to-date with the latest CBT therapies and methods and brings to the table proven CBT and ERP practices while also taking into account your unique needs. She nurtures your self-confidence, emphasizes the important of grace and self-love. She also respects your spiritual or religious beliefs and can apply a spiritual lens where appropriate. She will give you homework to keep you accountable to your goals and at times even assign herself homework if there's something she wants to further investigate. Overall, I couldn't have asked for a more empathetic or knowledgable therapist.”

Getting to know Marie Dillinger

Welcome! I am Marie Dillinger, a licensed therapist with a Master’s in Counseling from Argosy University. For over 15 years, I have worked with individuals, couples, and families seeking counseling. My experience has focused on mood disorders, adjustment issues, complicated grief, and trauma. I work exclusively with adults ages 18 and older, although early in my career, my clients ranged from 4 years old to “young” senior adults in their 60s. The philosophical foundation of my therapy is based on the understanding that what we think influences how we feel, which impacts how we behave. Therefore, to change any behavior or feeling, we first need to address our thinking. My goal in the counseling process is to assist you in improving the quality of your life by guiding you in how to manage, resolve, and/or reconcile those issues creating difficulty for you.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The first session is a look into who you are and what's going on in your world. This session is where we "try each other on for size" - that is, we make sure we are a good fit since working issues out can be very hard work and if the counselor isn't a good fit for you, it becomes even harder. I want to let you know there will be homework with me. We can do only so much in 50 minutes and when they say practice makes perfect - that's especially true when we're working to change our thoughts, influence our emotions, and modify our behavior. I don't believe in doing all the talking or all the listening. I offer feedback, Socratic questions, and insights. You can rely on the fact that I am in your corner, always.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.

Marie is real. She assists in finding ways to cope - or solutions to current problems. She isn't pushy and really listens. She is honest while being very kind. I'm a 49 year old female struggling with career difficulties. She's been a huge asset to help me through this difficult time.
Coming from someone who doesn’t like therapy, Marie is the best therapist I’ve ever had in my life. Accepting, open minded, and safe. Keeps me coming back. I’m so grateful to have met her on the first try.
