Marie Farrell, LMSW

Marie Farrell, LMSW

Psychotherapist
NY
I work with individuals navigating ADHD, autism, trauma—including religious or cult-related experiences—as well as those coping with chronic illness, cancer, and LGBTQ+–related concerns. I understand that many of these experiences can feel isolating or overwhelming, and my goal is to offer a space where you feel supported in making sense of what you’ve been through. Together, we focus on helping you move toward a life that feels more manageable, authentic, and aligned with who you are. In our sessions, my priority is that you feel heard and accepted without judgment. This is your space—you can share as much or as little as you’re ready to, and we move at a pace that feels right for you. I listen closely, offer support, and create an environment where you can show up fully as yourself. My approach to therapy is flexible and tailored to each individual. I often draw from Internal Family Systems (IFS), CBT, DBT, motivational interviewing, and somatic or mindfulness-based practices. I also incorporate grounding techniques, including nature-based and body-centered approaches, to help you feel more connected, regulated, and present.

What should a new client know about working with you?

I bring experience from a variety of settings, including substance use treatment, family homeless shelters, private practice, and hospice care. I combine empathy with humor and honesty, supporting you in identifying your goals and working toward meaningful change. I believe in your ability to grow and thrive, and I’m here to support you in that process.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

I value working with people from all backgrounds and identities, and I approach each person with openness, respect, and genuine care. Outside of my work, I enjoy spending time in nature, swimming, reading fantasy, watching thriller and mystery shows, traveling, and being with my children and cats—parts of my life that keep me grounded and connected.
