Getting to know Marisa Gonzalez

I’m Marisa Gonzalez, a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist Associate with a Master’s in Marriage and Family Therapy from Abilene Christian University. I’m passionate about helping couples, individuals, and the LGBTQIA+ community navigate life’s challenges. At Juniper Therapy, we focus on creating a safe and inclusive space for those seeking support with relationship issues, family conflict, emotional regulation, or burnout. I use evidence-based methods like the Gottman Method, DBT, and IFS to guide my clients toward meaningful growth, emotional resilience, and stronger connections. Whether you're experiencing communication breakdowns, struggling with work-life balance, or seeking clarity in your personal identity, I’m here to help you find lasting solutions. Therapy is a collaborative journey, and I believe that every person has the capacity for healing and self-discovery. I’m honored to support you in taking that first step toward a more balanced and fulfilling life. Let’s work together to help you become the best version of yourself.

What should a new client know about working with you?

When working with me at Juniper Therapy, new clients can expect a compassionate, collaborative, and personalized approach to therapy. I believe in creating a safe, non-judgmental space where you are free to express your thoughts and emotions. My style blends evidence-based techniques like the Gottman Method, DBT, and IFS, with a focus on practical tools to help you manage stress, improve communication, and find emotional balance. You’ll find that I use humor, empathy, and active listening to make therapy both approachable and impactful. I see therapy as a partnership, where together, we’ll explore your unique challenges and goals to create lasting change. Whether you’re working through relationship issues, family conflict, or personal struggles, my goal is to empower you to feel heard, supported, and confident in your journey toward growth.

What is your typical process for working with clients?

At Juniper Therapy, my process is designed to be welcoming, collaborative, and centered on your unique needs: Getting to Know You: In our first session, we’ll take the time to get to know each other. This is a safe space where you can share your story, your concerns, and what you hope to achieve through therapy. I’m here to listen and understand, so we can build a trusting and supportive relationship. Setting Goals Together: We’ll work together to identify your goals—whether it’s improving relationships, managing stress, or finding emotional balance. I believe therapy should be a partnership, where your voice guides the process, and we move at a pace that feels comfortable for you. Tailored Approach: I use a blend of proven techniques, like the Gottman Method, DBT, and IFS, but the approach is always tailored to your unique needs. Together, we’ll explore tools and strategies that resonate with you, helping you feel more in control and connected in your daily life. Ongoing Support: Our regular sessions are a time for you to reflect, grow, and feel supported. We’ll celebrate your progress, navigate any challenges, and continue working toward the changes you want to see. I’m here for you every step of the way. Open Dialogue: Your feedback is important to me. I want you to feel heard and comfortable throughout the process, so I encourage open communication about what’s working and what might need adjusting. Therapy is about your journey, and I’m honored to be part of it.
