Getting to know Marisa Panzer

I am a full-time school counselor and work part-time as a therapist. Prior to becoming a school counselor, I worked in the mental health field for over 15 years in multiple roles. I hold a Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Slippery Rock University of Pennsylvania. I enjoy helping adolescents and young adults who are experiencing anxiety, depression, and other mental health concerns to identify strategies that allow them to manage and/or overcome these challenges. I tend to use an eclectic mix of person-centered therapy, solution-focused therapy, and cognitive behavioral therapy when working with clients. I have also been trained in mindfulness to assist my clients. I understand the difficulties one might face related to the current societal climate, especially as it relates to the LGBTQ+ population and race. I believe it is important for clients to have a safe space to share the microaggressions, discrimination, and/or hate they may encounter. I strive to be that safe space for all individuals. In my free time, I enjoy spending time with my family. We like to do outdoor activities such as playing pickleball, hiking, paddleboarding, or just relaxing together.

What should a new client know about working with you?

The first session will be focused on gathering information about what you would like to focus on in therapy. The first few sessions will be establishing rapport and understanding the concerns you are having. After establishing rapport and understanding, we will begin to focus on identifying strategies to assist and trying those strategies out between sessions.

More information on payments and coverage

Payment is due after each session and will be charged with your card on file for any portion of patient responsibility. Receipts will be provided at the time of the charge. This typically takes place 2-4 weeks after the session, once your insurance has had a chance to process the claim. We try our best to verify eligibility, but it is ultimately your responsibility to check coverage and out-of-pocket costs for services. For out-of-network visits, you will be billed at the provider’s self-pay rate, and we can provide an invoice for you to submit to your insurance for potential out-of-network reimbursement based on your plan’s benefits.
